Thoughts On The Defense Of Our County's Ideals

As I was looking over the news stories yesterday, I saw that the “Woosie in Chief” decided not “to send the USS George Washington” off the coast of Korea after pressure had been put on the administration from China. Of course, we also announced new “sanctions” on N. Korea. So, there you have it. We are at a point now where the President bows and obeys his “Red Chinese” leaders. But why would we be surprised by this anyway? His open disgust for American leadership is there on display all the time.

As I was reading this, I was on the phone with my son-in-law. He is being sent to Afghanistan in a week or so. As we were discussing various things (he is a devout Christian, conservative and loves his country), I got to thinking of just how much we owe our very existence to these wonderful men and women who are sacrificing everything for our freedom. It also fit right in with the article I saw on the blogsite “The Liberal Lie The Conservative Truth”. I am reprinting it below.

Before I do that, I want to explain my feelings. I was brought up to respect my elders, love my country and always be thankful for the Freedoms and Rights that we enjoy mainly because of our Military. I usually say I have four fathers. My real father was a good man. He flew 42 missions as a waist gunner in WWII. Unfortunately, he was affected deeply by this. My first step-father fought on Guadalcanal and Iwo-Jima. He saw horrible stuff, kept a lot to himself. My second-stepfather participated in the liberation of 2 concentration camps. The horrors he saw were beyond comprehension for most people. The man I call my fourth father was a wonderful horse trainer. He served on destroyers as a radioman in WWII. Had two ships sink under him.

All four of these people were great men in their own right. But they NEVER griped about our country. All of them always asked the same thing of me. Be proud of your country! Defend her. Defend the rights that our forefathers spilled blood for to give us. Defend the Constitution! I tried to enlist in “68” but didn’t pass the physicals. None the less, I’ve tried my best to follow those few things asked of four great men, all of who helped make me what I am today.

I was telling someone at work this very thing a while ago. He informed me at the time that I either made this stuff up or I was to out of touch with the realities of the time. Well folks, I’m here to tell you one thing for sure. The men and women who give their lives for this country, I’m sure all felt the same as my four fathers. I can only hope I’ve done all I can to honor them as a good son should. As such, I can think of nothing more fitting to this discussion then the following letter from a WWII vet to the President. One note: Please think about this letter, especially the last line. I say that because I happen to think the President is one of the enemy, pitted against our very basic foundation and ideals. And it saddens me horribly to have to say that!

WWII VET TELLS OBAMA LIKE IT IS

This tremendous letter sent by a highly honored WWII veteran from Hawaii, Harold B. Estes, who is well known for his seventy years of service in patriotic organizations and who prior to this letter had never before spoken out against any government official, was dictated to a friend and signed by Mr. Estes then sent to Barack Obama.

This hero who defended our Nation on the battlefields of WWII tells it like it is and hits the nail on the head in his exacting criticism of Obama. When an honored hero like Mr. Estes speaks even the arrogant Obama should listen. Here is his letter found at the web page of a fellow patriot, Tom's Place.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can’t figure out what country you are the president of.

You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:

" We’re no longer a Christian nation"

" America is arrogant"

Your wife even announced to the world,"America is mean- spirited. " Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)

I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said," America hasn’t lived up to her ideals."

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.

You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.

And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Sincerely,

Harold B. Estes Thank you Mr. Estes for your service in defending our Nation and for your patriotism and willingness to take a stand against the destruction of our country at the hands of Barack Obama.
